The CRing project is a collaborative and open source textbook on commutative algebra. It is intended to start from the foundations (and thus to presuppose no more than familiarity with elementary abstract algebra), but to provide preparation for a study of algebraic geometry. Inspired by the Stacks project, the book will accept contributions (in LaTeX source form) from anyone who wishes to participate. If you’d like to be involved, please email cring.project (at) gmail.

The project is currently in its infancy, and we are still trying to figure out many of the goals and customs. The present blog, a group blog run by the contributors, is a place for discussion about the project as it evolves.
